'The Cave',
as it is generally known, is one of the oldest and
original buildings in Old Town Albufeira and is a
converted wine cellar which is almost 200 years old. The building has been used for the storage and maturing of Port Wine since the 1800's and houses one of the finest collections of Port Wine in Portugal. The Cave currently has over 4500 bottles of Vintage and Reserve Port displayed in the brickwork. 'Cave' means 'cellar' in Portuguese and the magnificent architectural features contributes to the feeling of actually being inside a Cave. A cosy family atmosphere makes a perfect setting for a relaxing lunch to escape the hot afternoon sun, or equally the soft lighting makes for a romantic meal in the evening or a great night out being entertained by Internationally renowned saxophonist Johnny Hooper. |
